Default A2 Motor terminal HOT

I have a 97 ezgo txt dcs. It seems to drive OK at first but the wire and A2 connection to the motor gets smoking hot. The connection is tight. Any idea where I should look for a problem?

Time to service the motor. It's getting hot from the brushes making poor contact on the commutator.

Thank you. That's what I was thinking but wanted to put it out there just in case I was missing something.

Not that volt ampere is wrong, as he has helped me several times before, but just putting it out there that occasionally a wire can break on the inside and cause that bad resistance and heat. I don't know how likely it is regarding the long wires that go to the motor terminals, more common with battery cables, but I think its still a possibility.

just wanted to put another potential idea on the table

also, now that I'm thinking about it, check the motor cables at the point where it wraps past the battery tray because those wires are known for wearing down because they rub against the tray over time. just make sure the insulation is still intact and not down to the bare wires
