Default Models worth considering beyond a 2008 PDS - $1500 - $2100 range

Hi all,

Per my first thread, I'm looking hard at a 2008 PDS. I've been trying to figure out (by driving what I can find a various shops) if there are other carts that are worth considering in my general price range.

I'm interested in acceleration as much as top speed.

My previous research seemed to indicate that there was no real acceleration or speed difference between a 36v and 48v. But things I've read on this site seem to say different. Should I try and snag a 48v if possible? Most in my price range seem to be 36v.

I've seen a 2009 RXV 48v go for about $2300. What are the advantages of this cart over a PDS?

As always, I really appreciate the feedback.

The RXV is a good choice, as long as you don't go overboard on tire size. Larger tires will lower torque and braking effectiveness. You can buy current off-lease RXVs (2013) for under $2300 that should provide years of use, check eBay. That same supplier in Georgia has them in stock directly, starting at $1900.

The performance of the 2013 is better than the 2009 due to a Danaher to Curtis controller change in early 2012. There are some common issues with RXVs, such as brakes in all model years, and wiring harness corrosion (more of an issue in the pre-Feb 2012 model years). Other than that, they perform very well and have decent torque and are able to be upgraded for more speed (up to 19.5 MPH on stock tires in Freedom Mode) by many dealers.

Prices will depend on where you are. Around here a 2013 48txt can be picked up in the low 2k range and the RXV is close. Both are decent carts but I tend to lean towards the txt because of the options as well as I lift most of mine and IMPO the txt is more stable lifted.

Txt is a tough cart, and by the time you are talking about all the bugs were worked out to make it a nice driving cart. Txt has a little more Crude suspension than Rxv, but it's durable (as long as you don't smash one front wheel into a huge boulder). Rxv has less speed loss on hills than any cart available during those years. Also consider a yamaha drive, has best overall suspension design during that time frame. Personally, I can't recommend club car precedent due to constant front end wear & problems, plus OBC issues.

Thank you both. I've added the 48v TXT to the short list.
