Default EZGO Battery Terminal Problems

Hello All, I have a little problem with my EZGO Electric 36V TXT Standard 2002. About a day ago I tried to remove my Negative lead nut to remove the wires, and when I tried the nut was making the whole terminal spin around. It had COMPLETELY melted! and I could not remove the Nut. So after some time I broke it loose. Then I took all the wires off and stuff, snipped the ends of them and I went to Advanced Auto Parts and got the terminal clamp thing that they use on cars. Then I put all the wires on that and bolted it in. It looked really good and the cart worked better than ever now. But then I was driving it around some and then I parked it to talk to someone. After I got back on I was getting ready to leave so I pressed the gas pedal and then my friend said "Hey!" and I hit the brake and let off the gas. Nothing happened and after he left I press the gas pedal and I hear *POP* And some black and white smoke starts flowing out under the seats. I open my seat and don't see much so I put it in neutral and take it to the garage and take my seat off. all to know my negative terminal on the SAME battery had popped, but when I touched it NOT HOT AT ALL! The terminal had arcked I guess and when it did it chipped the metal clamp I bought from the auto store and it chipped the round terminal it was clamped too. Now I'm just mad and I disconnected all leads going to the battery for safety. The position of this battery is the first on the left of the bank, where the energy is pulled from for the motor and where the negative line for the charger goes. All of them are fine I checked my solenoid there is no visual damage and the motor is nice and good has no heat coming off the terminals. So my two main questions are 1. Why did my terminal melt so bad the first time? and 2. Why did this happen?

P.S. The golf cart works fine I put the clamp on temporarily to make sure chargers worked and the motor did. All checked out.

How old are the batteries in the machine?

No - but the new battery will quickly degrade until it matches the condition of the other 5. Often this is the best option if the rest of the pack is still good for a year or more.

I would go for 1 then. And be sure you are not over tightening the nuts....electrical connections only need to be secure. Not Axle Nut Tight. A secure connection is the objective.
Beyond 15 Ft pds you can start compromising the stud to battery connection

Ok. Should I consider just upgrading all my batteries? I'm using Crown I'm not sure if it is a good brand to use. Should I switch to Trojan?

Reread my last post. I added to it and nothing wrong with Crown at all

Yea I keep them just tight to where they don't have a death grip just enough to make it secure like you said. And since I have 36V Could I get 4x 12v batteries and get more volts for fewer batteries? Or do I have to stick with 6V Battries?
