Bad solenoid?
Hey guys,
I'm a gas cart guy, but a buddy has an electric with some issues. Here is the rundown: Cart has new batteries, and run just fine. Someone decided to put a digital volt meter on it and created some issues. From what I understand the cart ran afterwards, but once it died, it would not charge any longer. Now it does nothing.... The guy used painters tape on all wire connections if that tells you anything.... I'm thinking he got wires crossed and burnt the solenoid on the passenger side? What are your thoughts? Thanks |

D1196 is the manufacturer code. Does that tell you anything? How would I test the solenoid?

If it were me, I would unhook the 2 smaller solenoid leads and try connecting power from the 36V battery pack to it and see it if makes contact. Be sure to jack it up and support it so it doesn't take off on you while testing. There are a number of tests for checking the F/N/R switch, microswitches, ect. I have a few older parts carts here but they are much older. Resistor carts, no controller. Bob |

Re: Bad solenoid?
Has it NEVER charged again? I'm assuming when he hooked the DVM to the battery pack he neglected re-connecting the charger leads.
I can't see a volt meter causing issues |

Re: Bad solenoid?
Well.
I'm lost. I have absolutely no idea what I am doing lol I am getting 35.6 volts from the batteries. THe right side of the solenoid is ground, and the left top post on the controller is positive. If i put the volt meter on those two, I get 35.6 volts again. I am not sure what this guy did, and I dont even know where to start... |

Re: Bad solenoid?
at 35.6 the batteries are close to dead - about 30%
Follow the charger leads to the battery pack and let us know if they are both connected |
