Ez Go MPT won't do anything
Ok so I have a 2007 ezgo mpt 1000 48v that I can't get to move. I've tried to troubleshoot it and haven't got anywhere. I started tracing voltage, I have 50.1 volts at the battery side of the solenoid, nothing on the other. Next using a volt meter I checked the voltage on the small posts of the solenoid, black test lead on the battery pack main negative and the red test lead on the small posts with the yellow wire I got nothing I guess I'm supposed to get pack voltage right? Next I put the black test lead on the battery main positive in the red test lead on the small posts with the blue wire again I have nothing. All of these tests were done with the key switch on and cart in forward direction. I just can't seem to pin this problem down.

I also verified that the key switch is working. And am going to make sure the pedal box is working correctly. Since I cannot get the cart to power up I'm kinda leaning towards the speed controller but I'd like some help to be sure if I can get it. Thanks

Re: Ez Go MPT won't do anything
Your controller is a Curtis 1264, but it operates the same way as a Curtis 1206MX (36V PDS controller).
Activating the solenoid is a two step process. 1. Charger disconnected, Run/Tow in Run, Key ON and a direction selected tells controller to put B+ on yellow wire. 2. Pushing pedal (closing pedal switch contacts) tells controller to put B- on blue wire. ---------- Here's a service manual for it. I'd check the voltage on the smaller of the 3 wires coming out the backside of the charge receptacle first. The reed switch is a high failure item. If that is the problem, bypass it rather than replace it. |

Re: Ez Go MPT won't do anything
I checked the reed switch it is working correctly. Also the controller is a 1268 Curtis not sure if it's any different then the one you spoke of earlier. I also just checked the continuity on the micro switch in the foot pedal and it is correct, also the continuity on the F&R switch is correct as well. The middle contact on the F&R switch is supposed to have power on it I thought, and it doesn't.

Also with a volt meter hooked up black wire on battery pack negative, and red wire on yellow at solenoid I do not have b+ on the yellow wire with key switch on charger unplugged and direction switch selected, however I do have b negative on the blue wire with and without pedal pressed, the volt meter is hooked up with the black lead on the battery pack positive post and red lead on blue wire on the solenoid.

Quote:
The power to the center pin on the F/R switch comes from the controller. Check the Run/Tow switch. When in RUN, all four pins should have battery pack voltage on them. Quote:

Just a thought: have you checked for codes on the lights on the controller. Those controllers are pretty good about telling why they don't want to go. Check for flashes while key on, and when pedal pressed.

Re: Ez Go MPT won't do anything
Ok so I tested the run/ tow switch and in the run position it has pack voltage on all 4 posts of the switch. Also when checking for B negative blue wire with and without pedal pressed, the volt meter is hooked up with the black lead on the battery pack negative post and red lead on blue wire on the solenoid this time and I do not have B negative with the pedal pressed.
Also I do not have any flashing fault codes seems like the controller isn't even powered up. |

Re: Ez Go MPT won't do anything
Is there a way to trick the solenoid to activate it to see if the controller is working correctly

Re: Ez Go MPT won't do anything
The controller would likely not like that either, it would throw a "contactor welded" code. The controller turns the solenoid on & off, it does not like to see the solenoid in a state that the controller did not command it to be in. If the solenoid is on when the controller did not tell it to be on, it throws a code & won't run either.
