Default Battery help-Trojan vs Deka

It looks like I'm going to have to get new batteries sooner rather than later. I read the forums about lithium, but that system sounds like it's a bit outside of my knowledge/ comfort area.

So, I'm looking at upgrading to 48v and figured I'd go with the Trojans. I called the local guy and he asked if I'd heard of Deka and said he actually liked them a little better. The price is about the same so I'd like to get whatever may perform better. I've read the spec sheets on both, but honestly don't really understand what I'm looking for. Why does the capacity in minutes seem to be higher for the Deka but the amp hour rating is higher for the Trojan? I was hoping to get feedback on the numbers below and if anyone has had any experience with Deka.

T875
Capacity minutes
25A-295
56A-117

Capacity amp hours
5h-145
10hr-155
20hr-170
100hr-189

Weight-63lbs

DekaGC8V
Capacity minutes
25A-318
56A-121
75A-85

Capacity amp hours
5ah-130
20ah-165

Weight-68lbs

Trojans are the preferred batteries in my area.

Not sure about Deka

Both same price,
IMO, I'd go Trojan .

Both are very good brand names and honestly you are looking at an apples to apples comparison here. Deka batteries are manf by East Penn which is a very large private family owned battery manf operation. You can't go wrong with either name brand...

Orangeman, if you have a sams club or similar the sell Duracell GC8v golf cart batteries that are made by Deka when I was looking and they were less than Trojans. I believe they were $109 here. I'm looking to buy batteries before spring so I'm in the same boat...

Thanks guys, I appreciate the replies. Can someone help me out with understanding the specs. In some cases, the Deka appears to have a higher rating, ie: the 25A rating is 318 vs 295. However, the amp hour ratings appear to favor the Trojans with the 5h at 145 vs 130 for the Deka. Does this have anything to do with initial power vs run time?

The only rating we really care about is the 20 amp hour rating which the Trojan is a little bit higher but not by much....

My Crown batteries have the same 165 20ah rating as the Deka and I'd stack mine up against any brand battery of equal age (2.5 year) any day...

I would say the only rating You should consider is the Minutes @ 56 amps.

That "20hr-170" rating for Trojan means a load of 8.5 amps for 20 hours, not very relevant to golf carts.

You are as always spot on.. My reason for saying this is the 20ah reading is the one spec that seems to be used most for comparisons etc...

Trojan is all i sell or recommend to customers, they are awesome batteries. and customer service is super easy to work with. cant beat the 18 month warranty. With proper maintenance your looking at an easy 5-7 years depending how you run it.
