Default Where did you mount your Alltrax FN1 switch?

Just bought a FN1 to go with the new 48400 - wondering where some of you have mounted them.

Not sure if I should have in plain sight, or hidden. Whole concept is to slow cart down for kid or other drivers, if it's in plain sight kind of takes its purpose away.

Wast thinking of placing in in my Max5 cooler under rear seat, it's hidden and locks so it can truly be away from wondering eyes or curious kids. Also thinking of under seat simply next to controller and FNR.

Where have you all placed yours? Pics if possible please

My first thought was to hide it as well, and my first idea for placement was inside the glove box area. However, I ended up mounting it right in the dash. It's worked out well for me, as I actually use it myself when I'm in close quarters and want the power dialed down. It wouldn't work for me to have it under the seat, or somewhere I couldn't easily get to it.

Wherever you decide to put it, it might help to know that you can remove the dial from that boxy case it comes in. The first pic below shows mine mounted on the far left of my dash. The others are some shots of the switch broken down so you can mount it without the box.

very cool! Love that switch plate face plate you mocked.

Good idea to have at access for 'close quarters' as well - SMART! I didn't think of that

The FN is made to be adjusted during use as orangeman6 explained. If a kiddie switch is needed. A standard toggle type switch can be installed under the seat to activate a different mode of operation as seen in the program options. Any SR or XCT control offers this option.

Scotty, I'll have to look into doing what you're saying with the toggle. I've been very happy with how you set up my 48500, so haven't hooked it up to a computer yet. To be able to have the dial easily accessible like I do, and have a hidden toggle, would be the best of both worlds.

I'm not sure you can do both..... I think you have to select FN or switch mode in the program. But it seems to me that you could interrupt one of the wires to the FN and that would disable it leaving it stuck in one mode, same as it is when the FN is programmed but not installed...... hmmm, I'll ask Alltrax and report back

That looks like a plain 5kΩ potentiometer.

Measure the resistance between the black and red wires when the pot is at the minimum (will be either 0 or 5kΩ).

Set the minimum scale of the slider on the Alltrax program to be how you want the controller to behave for kids.

You can then use a simple SPST removable key switch to change and lock the functionality from "minimum" values to "Fully Adjustable".

You can use any locking switch like the ones below, the wiring will depend if the value is 0 or 5kΩ at the minimum setting:

The reduced reverse speed feature can easily be switched with a hidden toggle or the locking switch Sergio linked to. In this case you can set a max speed of any percentage you desire and the FN would still function with that range.

Wiring would consist of a constant battery pack (+) supply to the switch and the switched side of the switch going to the F1 blue (reverse terminal) this could work with the active in reverse only function and just be full time when the added switch is closed.

Ok - so I mounted on dash. LOVE this thing - Scotty is right, you want access to it -would have been silly to hide it.

The difference in ride is a huge benefit - I can turn it down for the wife to drive - put it on 60% to play golf today and really liked the smoother ride out there - got on road on way home and back to 100% on street

If you've got a 48400 or 500 get this add on - totally worth it
