Default How 2 CHG headlight to LED from stock

Yeah.....it sure seems like an easy question.....and it's pretty easy to do this on a car or truck.....but on a golf cart??....well, likely 'cause I've not done it before and I'm the type of guy who learns via "monkey see.....monkey do." So, I'm looking at my headlights on my 2000 TXT and from the front.....I see no screws. So, I'm thinking.....Ok, I must have to attack it from under the cowl in the back. However....before I get "under dare" and dirt begins to flick in my eyes 'cause I refuse to wear safety glass's and blood runs out of my arms and I can't feel my hands any more....I just thought I'd ask.....What's the easiest way to change out the stock to an LED bulb? Oh...and yes, I did Google this and I can't find a video to save my life on this subject.

Thanks in advance!!

are you talking about swapping the entire headlamp assy, if so its 4 nuts i think 8mm that hold it on from the backside. it is accessible from the underside of the cowl

I have a TXT as well and I went down this path you are about to go on and perhaps can offer some direction.

You have to remove the light assembly from the cowl.

There are a couple of nuts on the back of the assembly that must be removed to access the screws that hold the light into the assembly.

I went through 4 or 5 different LEDs trying to find which ones offered the brightest solution.

The main issue that I found is the led lights are a little long when they go into the light assembly and this results in the led light being past the area on the mirror that provides the best focus of the beam.

This is why I tried a lot of LEDs lights off of Amazon.

I got so tired of crimping wire back that I put on quick disconnects so I could just unplug my wires up under the cowl.

In the end...I found some that were good (not great) and it works for me.

I did after that entire exercise of swapping out to LEDs...Add a large LED light bar under the front cowl on a separate switch.

I can try to post the LEDs that I used if it would be helpful.

Here is the original bulb pulled out of my TXT.

Back of the assembly...

After putting in LEDs...I went all in with a led light bar

Skipsmith.....A much appreciated thank you for your detailed response. I had an "inkling" that perhaps I should just leave the stock headlights alone and go with an LED bar on a separate switch like you have done. It appears you went through a lot of effort to swap LED bulbs and in the end....the brightness wasn't up to what you wanted....so the light bar was ultimately the way to go.

I think you just saved me a bunch of LED bulb swapping with your response. Thanks a "bunch."

BTW....here's a pic of my front (best one I have right now) and my headlights are like from a '62 Buick. The glass appears to be thick and "foggy" so I don't know how much better an LED would "cut" through 'em anyway. FWIW

Looks like with your setup, you can easily mount a led bar.

One reason I continued the process of sticking with the LED replacement was I have a 12 volt light battery and the led really does give me longer run times over the good old fashioned light bulb.

Your bet bet is to look for a replacement LED headlight/tail light kit. I've seen them on eBay. That way the reflector is designed for the COB LEDs they use and the lenses will be new and clear.

Dave you have an ST style cowl. Those headlights are sealed beam and mount with 2 screws from behind. To my knowledge there is not an LED replacement for them and they are about $40 each.. As for brightness nothing else in EZ-Gos line will touch them..

Oh....well that's good to know. Even "more better" to get the LED light bar and install it. BTW, I have a separate 12-V battery that runs my lights and winch(s) (front and rear) if I need them. The LED would also be hooked up to the 12-V.
