48 volt charger socket wiring harness
Ok gurus. Trying to help a friend with his 2012 Cushman Hauler. He bought it used and it was missing the temperature sensor on the socket harness so when you plug the charger in it would not charge. I had not seen it but told him to order a replacement sensor. He ordered a Delta-Q - Temperature Sensor Repair Kit. Got it and tried to figure out how to hook it up and called me. I get over there and look at his harness and see that what I thought was a single grey wire was truly just a sheath with a red and a black wire in it. We tried to figure out the instructions that came with it but no joy, The new sensor has a white wire coming out of it and a black wire that is taped off. Other end has the ringlet.
Any insight ?? Thanks in advance |

Re: 48 volt charger socket wiring harness
Hook the 2 wires from new sensor to the old wires inside the Grey "wire". Not polarity sensitive, it's just a variable resistor. No power is fed through the ring terminal, just heat from battery terminal.

Re: 48 volt charger socket wiring harness
cg, I have attached a picture of what he bought. White wire has a connection on it but the black one is heat shrink sealed. Do I take that shrink off and connect the black to it? I'm wondering now if the black is common to the ring terminal and red would be a resistance to ground because based on the instructions that came with kindof implied that.

Check for continuity to the ring. When you find none, wire it as I described.

Re: 48 volt charger socket wiring harness
I guess this is where I am confused. There is one wire exposed on the new sensor. The white one. There is a black but it is heat shrinked closed. The instructions that came with it are pretty pitiful. It comes with a new ring terminal so maybe connect the small black wire from the charger port to the battery ring and the small red wire to the white on the sensor ?
From what you describe the original sensor had no continuity from either wire to the ring but maybe this one does... |
