Default Volt meter /SoC meter wiring...

97 36V TXT DCS...I'd like to wire the meter(s) so they come on with the key switch...but there are only two wires on the switch (Y, Y/W)...with the key in the off position I read (new batteries charged) 38.2 volts at the Y wire and 6.8 volts at the Y/W even with the key off the meter will still be energized. Is there a solution for this?

Should meters be fused?

If an idle cart loses 1% of it's charge a much more of a drain is leaving both a volt meter and a SoC meter running?

I know there have been some other threads on switching the soc. You may be able to find it by search. I changed my key switch , and my old one was a 3 position, but I'm pretty sure the + of meter was hooked to the part of the switch that had 36v in first position. - of meter was straight to pack. BUT....don't quote me on that.

I do know it's been stated here multiple times (by people that actually know what they're talking about) that the draw from an soc is very minimal and a non-issue. For that reason, I wired my meter straight to the pack. Anytime I pass by the cart , I get a quick view of the status of the pack. I think it's helpful.

I have seen the posts about changing the key switch to the round barrel style for security reasons. You can kill 2 problems in 1 shot. I don't think that they are very expensive.

I like the key on meters so i can tell if the cart is left on with a quick glance.
A fuse of some sort is a good idea incase of a short or a failure of some sort.
I have a main fuse on my key switch that will protect everything in the event of a short circuit.
