Crash
Hello. Our youngest had a run in with an oak tree (thankfully, she is ok).
Our 2002 ezgo suffered a bent leaf spring and a bent shock absorber mount, both on the right side. Can I fix this without removing the axle? I don't have a lift. What is a good, safe way to get it off the ground to do this work? I've attached pix. Thank you. Paul |

Re: Crash
I'm glad you daughter is ok. I am no ezgo expert but I would jack it up just enough to take the load off of the front tires and use blocks on the frame to hold it up. Then carefully remove all the damaged stuff. Id say you need new leaf springs both sides and a shock, to start with. I would also carefully inspect all the rest of the cart, steering linkages, spring mounts front and rear, rims, and make sure he frame isn't bent or damaged. It might be time to look into modifying the cart, lift? Good luck.

Re: Crash
Wow yeah that must have been some impact Nearly all the front axles I've replaced look nothing like that damage wise. That leaf spring is gnarly looking too. You will definitely need the obvious leaf spring replacement and shock. I can't tell really if the other side has significant damage. The steering rods look ok. You will definitely need a new front axle because you can't exactly bend the tabs straight again where the shock goes through lol. Lucky your daughter is ok that was a serious impact on the cart. As for jacking it up, once it's high enough off the ground for you to access it, just place some jack stands under it if you have them

Re: Crash
Just curious but it's a 2002? The front axle weldment looks like the older style pre 2000

Re: Crash
I'm thinking if you need to ask how to jack up a cart to work on it this project is beyond your service rating. Take it to a dealer.
I have never seen a leaf spring bent like that. There could be more damage than what meets the eye. |

Re: Crash
That is a hard hit. So hard it may have pulled the floor board down as the leaf spring bent up. A good shop will be able to straighten it out. New springs and front axle for sure. Steering boxes were a weak link on those in a heavy hit, surprised it didn't break an ear off the box.
Glad you daughter is fine. |

Re: Crash
Pscag, not sure if that is a 2002 cart or not but it is the old style axle and suspension. If you are not sure about how to do this job I'm not sure if you want to tackle it. Where are you located?

Re: Crash
Let's give the OP some time to come to terms with the magnitude of the task at hand. I know that I was overwhelmed, and it took a while for it to sink in. I had to pause and take a look at it from a practical point of view. In the end, I was better off for it. I wasted a lot of time and money in my attempt to repair the frame damage on my wrecked cart vs just salvaging the good parts off of it and starting over with another cart.
