Default New to Golf Carts

I just purchase a 2000 EZGo cart from a neighbor that was moving away. What are some of the things that I should start checking out? Also, what are the first mods that most people recommend? I've driven the cart twice and it seems fine but going up hill it struggles. I'm not sure if this is the batteries or something else. Please feel free to chime in.

Welcome to BGW. I would reply with each of the battery voltages, battery year of manufacture, serial number of the cart. This is the info the experts will need to help diagnose any issues.

Measure each battery voltage with a multi meter and report back.

As to things to check, grease all zerk fittings, as that's something most people don't do. With a 16+ year old buggy, you may want to change the rear end lubricant. Check the condition of the battery supports, to see if it is rusty and may need to be ground to bare metal and recoated.

4 Batteries are reading 6.4volts and the other 4 are at 6.0 after charging.

You need to measure the voltage 12 hours after the charger cuts off, and removing the charger. 6 volts is dead, and they may drop even lower after 12 hours.
