1997 txt Controller wire to motor extremely hot
I have a 1997 TXT EzGo. I bought a year ago. It wasalready lifted with siz 22 tires. I added size 23 tires. Recently i started smelling burning plastic. The cable from the controller (dcs300) to the motor is getting extremely hot. Do I need to upgrade my controller to a 500 and use a 2 gauge cable to solve this issue? Pictures of my current controller are attached.

That is a nice looking cart. Use the Alltrax XCT400 controller, a 200a solenoid, and 2g cable set.

Your recommendations worked great. Cart now goes 22 mph and about 27 down a slight decline. As I was changing out the cables I discovered that the cable that was getting hot was frayed and loose on the motor. I am very pleased with the upgrade.

Be careful with that downhill speed - it is possible to be spinning the motor faster than it can hold together for.

I will be careful. Don't want to replace a motor right now when I just dropped about $675 on the upgrade. Thanks again!!!

$675.......Ghee......I remember when I too thought that dropping $675 on cart upgrades was a big investment in the cart...........It's not that "it's not"......But you just have to prepare yourself for.....let's call it "a bigger budget" in the future. 'Cause there's the "need" budget......then there's the "WANT" budget. As you can tell....the WANT budget is in all CAPS.
