2006 ezgo txt speed
i have a 2006 ezgo txt, and it has quick acceleration, and gets up to speed very quick. its current top speed is 18 miles per hour, but i know it could go faster because whenever it tops out at 18 you can hear the golfcart become a lot quieter and it wont let it go past 18. Even when going down a small slope, it wont let the cart accelerate past 18. i was just wondering what part is causing this speed cap.

Re: 2006 ezgo txt speed
Sounds like you have a stock 2006 TXT PDS.
The stock PDS controller (Curtis 1206MX) limits the motor to about 4400 RPM, which is about 18 MPH on stock height (18" tall) tires and stock (12.44:1) differential gears. As the motor accelerates towards the 4400 RPM limit, the controller throttles back, so it sounds quieter. If the motor tries to exceed the max RPM limit, the controller applies regen braking to keep the motor from exceeding it. Replace the stock PDS controller with an Alltrax XCT48400-PDS, which is user programmable, and the top speed on level ground will climb to about 24 MPH without changing the tire height or gear ratio or battery pack voltage. |
