1/2 speed throttle question
I'm new to this forum. Awesome place! There's a lot of knowledge being dropped here, and I wanna learn.
I'm finding that the phrase "simple question" can be relative, so here goes: Where do I connect the empty spade on the controller that is marked "1/2 throttle"? After talking a little bit with ScottyB I believe that it is entirely possible to have a toggle switch to let me go from "full power" to "kiddy mode". It is cool that my new cart can do wheelies and reach 23 mph, but I would feel a lot safer if I could slow her down for when the Mrs takes the grandkids for a ride. I have only had it a week, but here is what I have learned about it. Started as 1996 TXT 36v. At some point was lifted, and upgraded to a 48v Alltrax controller model 4855, D&D motor model 170 added. The old F/R direction knob under the front seat was replaced by a switch in the dash that goes into FNR. Any other pertinent info I should give? The manual says to connect to pack +, but where exactly? |

Re: 1/2 speed throttle question
The simple answer is anywhere you have B+. The battery is one place.
Does your cart currently go 1/2 speed in reverse? Does it have a backup beeper? Those microswitches would also be a good place, and easily accessible, assuming you would want to hide the toggle switch under the seat. |

Re: 1/2 speed throttle question
Yurtle, thx for the reply. Any B+ just sounded too easy. No specific voltage? I just want to be certain before putting any amount to the controller, that's kinda scary to me.
No it doesn't ever do 1/2 speed reverse, it is just as fast as forward. No back up beeper. When you say microswitch, is that for example like the one located in the floor near the accelerator pedal? Would that one work, just come off one side and wire to 1/2 throttle spade on the controller? Then put a toggle switch inline on that wire? That would be too easy... As if it isn't evident enough, I am def a beginner at this. Does it show hehe? |

Re: 1/2 speed throttle question
B+ is the battery terminal that has a white wire from the charger connector.

Re: 1/2 speed throttle question
So small jumper from there to that spade and I'm 1/2 speed? That is too easy!

Re: 1/2 speed throttle question
I just assumed you had a series cart, based on the year. Go here and see what you have. If you have a series cart, the two microswitches I was referring to are on the back of the Forward, Neutral, Reverse (FNR) switch.

Re: 1/2 speed throttle question
Must be Sepex, it does not have the handle F/R selector. It was replaced by a rocker style switch in the dash.
