Default Brakes/ rear axle binding

Noticed when I was switching out my rear drum brakes for the Ausco disc brakes that the drums were dragging...well I thought it was the brakes that were dragging. Then I removed the brakes and the cables from the mounts. I tried spinning the spline, thinking it would move easily, but it would give then bind a little(like rubbing) and then give again. I've since switched the brake system, and before I even attached the rotor or brake cables, it was still binding slightly, so I know it's not the brakes grabbing prematurely. Any ideas what could cause this?? Thanks in advance!

Seems like it could be something like a bad bearing in the hub or perhaps something in the differential. Does it happen on both sides?

Need a parts breakdown of the axles & hub.

There is a metal washer Behind the "C" ring that holds the axle in.
Sometimes it wears, stars spinning, then grinding
Allowing the axle to slide out a little as it wears

Seems there should be a spring washer to keep tension on the bearing, washer & "C" ring clip

Yes Robert it is on both sides. And it is not like it doesn't run, but is it something that will lead to major future damage? Can one side affect the other?

Does anyone know if there are any sponsors on here who sell the bearings and clips and such?

Have someone hold one rear tire so it can't turn, and you turn the other tire and see if everything works fine. And when you say it binds. Does that mean that you can't turn it anymore?

So after having someone hold one tire, the other tire will spin, it sounds a little like its dragging. Maybe I'm expecting something different. Let's say I put a bicycle upside down and spin the front tire, it spins freely for about a minute. The golf cart tire spins for less than three seconds. Now on the bicycle if I apply the brakes slightly, it will drag slightly and stop in 15 seconds or so. The sound that the bike tire makes is the sound I'm hearing. I know that the brakes aren't the issue, because it was making the same sound when spinning the hub, or at least trying to, before the brakes were put on.

It's not as if the tire won't spin at all, it just doesn't seem like a smooth spin, like it is catching on something. So then my other question is, am I over thinking this and is this a "non-issue", or is this something that can come up and bite me in the a** later on?

Thanks for reading this far!

When you spin the rear tires. You are spinning all the gears and the motor. So yes it's not going to spin freely, like a bicycle front tire spins free
