Default 36v to 48v conversion

So i want to upgrade my cart this spring/summer. this forum has been a great help for everything I've done so far. Im going to need new batteries so I'm thinking of upgrading from 36v to 48v. my question is 6-8v batteries or 8-6v batteries? if you guys have 8 batteries where do you put the extra 2? in the back well? my cart is a 2001 ezgo txt 36v. I already plan on hooking up with Scotty B for a new controller, heavy duty FR switch and solenoid. I already upgraded to 2g cables, have a lift and 22" tires plus i camo wrapped the cart. If i have read correctly i can still use my stock 36v motor at 48v? I use the cart for tooling around the campground and also use it for hunting. it struggles getting up small hills. We don't have any big hills on our lease, I'm in Southeast Michigan. I also plan on recovering the seats this summer. Thanks in advance for any help!!!!

If you were happy with your overall range before, 6x 8v would probably be fine. Don't forget a 48v charger. Torque will be greatly improved with a controller like a SR48500.

I did the 36 - 48v conversion on a 6 person shuttle using the stock motor. I got a Scotty kit (controller, F/R switch, solenoid, etc.) and went to 2g wires. My results were just awesome. Cart went from 10 mph to 15mph (factory spec on the shuttle is 12 mph). Understand, the shuttle weighs 1600+ pounds unloaded. Add 6 adults to it and 15 mph is actually pretty impressive. Better, torque went from ok to flat out crazy. This thing will spin tire on anything other than pavement.

I went with (6) 8 volt batts rather than ( 6 volters. Yeah, run time would have been a bit more but, at least in my opinion, that isn't worth the cost of two more batteries, having to fabricate a place to install them, added weight to an already heavy cart, etc. Again, just my thoughts.
