Default Newbie needs help

I'm not only new to this forum, but I'm new to EZGO gas golf carts. Here's my problem: I just bought a 2003 today. I bought it about 2 1/2 hours from home on a day that at 2 p.m. was in the upper 60s, and then in a couple of hours dropped to the upper 30s.

When I got to the seller's house, the cart was parked in his garage. I pulled up and he came out, fired up the cart and drove it onto my trailer. We secured it in the trailer, and I headed back home - or at least to the golf course where I keep my cart.

When I got there, I tried to start it to back it out of the trailer, but it just made a "wuup, wuup, wuup" sound. So I rolled it off. I presume the starter motor was turning but the engine just didn't fire. After about two minutes, the starter motor started to turn much more slowly.

Is this just a battery problem, or do you think I might have other issues. Like I said, it ran earlier, but then after a 2 1/2 hour drive, it didn't want to start.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

I forgot to add that I did stop and top off the tank of gas on the way home. It was about half full.

Man, I'm a real dolt. Wrong forum. Can this be moved to the gas forum?

The first thing I would look at is the battery cables to make sure they are tight. then I would check the battery if that did not work.

I think so, when one of the moderators see this post they will probably do it for you.

So second time it wouldn't start even with the choke pulled out and then the battery ran down? Is that right?

Yes, choke pulled out and it wouldn't start. I got a message from the guy I bought it from and he told me it was really cold blooded, and that I needed to pull the choke out for 20-25 seconds before I press the accellerator pedal.

I don't see what difference that would make it is only a flapper....it is not a 'glow plug'. So, it won't make any difference if you hold the choke closed for a minute or a day?

Sounds like the drastic temp. drop is zapping a weak battery.

Could be.... after checking the battery and cables....I would verify that chock butterfly is actually closing.
