Accessory Power Best Option
I am debating again on whether to get a converter or external batter for the 12v accessories in my cart. I will have a dual USB charger, LED light strip-underbody glow, LED head/tail light deluxe kit and may add more LEDs later but thats the main draws from the batteries.
What would you recommend i do, the external battery or the converter off the cart batteries. I currently have a 2009 EZGO RXV and hear how sensitive the cart is to voltage changes so wasn't sure if the converter would cause any issues. Please let me know what your thoughts/experiences are so i can make the best decision. Thanks. |

i have a 12volt battery for accessories and charge it with a simple battery tender . i rather drive home with no lights and have to push home because the radio drained the pack.

Hey LSU Mykul. It all depends on how you use your cart. I have had no problems using a reducer that that reduces pack voltage to 12 volts. Either use a switch that turns the reducer off when not used for extended periods, or have one that is only energized when the key switch is on.
My next cart, ( the one I'm building now) I am going to use a separate 12 volt battery for all accessories. Partly as an experiment just to see how well it works running lights, radio, usb ports etc. If it does what I expect it to do, I can be done with the hassle of worry about draining the pack, and having to explain to other people (kids, girlfriends, my stupid brothers etc,) why I have another switch that needs to be turned off for the night, weekend or whatever. I'm sure Dundeebarnbuggies response was quite unnecessary. |

I went with the separate battery.
You spend a lot of money on your battery pack and I wanted it just for the purpose of moving the cart. The separate 12 volt I have for my accessories is great. When it wears out...I will replace it. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk |

I used a reducer, but the only problems I experienced, is you don't have an easy memory power source, to save programmed radio stations, and if you punch it on 500 amps, the stereo drops out for a second, without using a capacitor.
