Default RXV Cart only creeps forward and backwards

Can someone point me in the right direction for a troubleshooting guide for a RXV cart on this site? I am trying to help someone fix their cart as I always worked on EZ-GOs but man this cart is whole other beast. I believe the encoder inside the motor is toast from all I have researched but would like to troubleshoot further as needed. I have a meter and all the needed tools but I do not have the scanner and thought maybe the troubleshooting guide could help me further too.

Thanks in Advance. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't like throwing parts at something but without a scanner, I may be dead in the water unless someone has seen this to be common to my problem. The brake appears to be fine (has the release handle on it and works fine in tow mode) but the cart only moves very slow in forward and reverse. I will look up the year of this cart when I get back home.

Thanks team!

First check is motor temp sensor. Find it in the above t-shoot guide.

Here is what my 2010+ manual has on your error codes...

17168 = Heat Sink Temp High ( Controller overloaded/overheated)
25107 = Brake Current Low (Parking brake failure or open harness connection)
25104 = Not listed. I suspect 25106, Direction Error (both Fwd & Rev detected, possible bad keyswitch or wiring)
25105 = Throttle Sensor Error (throttle encoder signal out of range)
9024 = AC Short Circuit (short circuit detected in Controller, motor cable, or motor)
12833 = DC Bus Low (Controller DC voltage has dropped below 18 volts)
12818 = DC Bus High (Battery Pack voltage is over 67 volts)

Looks like that old RXV has seen much better days
You may need a longer term use of the handset. Some of those codes have likely rolled off and were past errors, but that is still quite a list. Clearing errors and retesting may need to be done. cgtech would likely be your best help on this one, as it is a Danaher RXV and I don't work with Danaher RXVs.

Thanks for your reply.. I'm sure a lot of those are old and yes a lot to deal with. The cart will go forward and reverse but the speed is less than a crawl. My bet is that the encoder has failed but without spares to swap in an out its going to be tough. I wish I could have kept that handheld for awhile but they charged me $25 to just pull the codes. He stated it had the old software In it and would update it for another $25, I chose not to until I can get it running. I appreciate you posting each code definition. I wish they had a date beside them so I could tell which where old and which were new. Do they store the codes forever or so they go away say if power is removed?

If it were a Curtis cart, I would suspect the motor temperature sensor or the motor speed encoder. The overload/overheat and AC short errors have me concerned about the health of the controller and motor. I have very little experience with the Danaher controllers. My local dealer has the RXV handset and I spent a little time getting used to it, but I have not put enough time in with it to get to know it as well as I know the Curtis controllers. Whenever I need to deeply diagnose a Danaher cart, I will swap out the harness and use one of my spare Curtis controllers to check everything out.

With a Curtis controlled RXV, I can download the logs and grep them for the sequence of events, and know exactly when each error occured based on the internal hourmeter in the controller. I then clear all past entries and run a fresh diagnostic. I don't know if that is possible with the Danaher controller. I now have an interface that is compatible with the Danaher communications port and protocol. If I had one, I would find some time to learn it. As if I don't have enough on my plate as it is.

They only pulled the codes for me. I saw in the troubleshooting guide that if it's going slower that limp home mode to look at page 24 and 25 so I'm going to grab a meter today and take a look.

The cart had old batteries in it and was recently replaced with new batteries. I think a lot of the codes were stored due to the bad batteries and people not understanding what was going on. It ran fine after they replaced the batteries but they didn't drive or charge it for about 3 months after changing the batteries and when they went to drive it, it would only crawl forward and back. I will post my findings.

On page 24 and 25 of the manual it states to check the SOC plug. Where is this located? I assume that is the "state of Charge" meter.

Thanks guys, gonna try to test the recommended components today.
