Default Powerwise QE Question

I have a RXV 48v with a Powerwise QE Charger. If I remember correctly, this charger is not considered a very dependable charger. But I have been using it with the idea that someday I may need to buy another. Maybe that day is here?

I am getting a two red light flash error when trying to charge. But I have a pack voltage of 47v. I looked around some to try and find another topic about this - but then thought someone could provide an answer off the top of their head.

If so, I would really appreciate a tip or push in the right direction. Thanks.

Not sure about the red light codes, but an easy test is to borrow a charger from a friend and see if their charger works. If it does, then the issue is not your cart and it IS time for a new charger. I know you didn't ask for a recommendation, but seriously, the DPI is the way to go.

Just a thought (I had a similar issue).

Check the voltage at the individual batteries. They should be around 8.5±0.5VDC each. If it's down around 6VDC or so, the battery is kaput. You may have a dead cell. Honestly, it sounds like you have a bad battery. I thought my QE quit on me for the same reason.

I live on a large island of only 186,000. Not many people with carts - just golf courses. My only friend with a cart is 2 hours away - and it's a 36v.

Just shipping a heavy charger here is $100. So, I usually try to fix stuff like this first. If if's just a circuit board, etc. - it is usually the way to go. I can go months before Craigslist even has a cart for sale, so finding a used charger is bleak as well.

My pack voltage is 47.8 after going uncharged for a couple of months now. So, the batteries have to be pretty good - don't they? I checked two last night and they were both 11.9v (4/12v).

So, I'll do some more checking when time permits today. Any tips would still be appreciated.

Have you measured the voltage at the charging port to verify what the charger is seeing is correct?

If you have 4 12 volts you can just hook up a regular car charger and charge each one individually. Once brought up, plug yours in and see if it works.

I should have noticed that it wasn't a 6x8V battery bank. Yes, I'd say that, if you have two batteries ~12V, that all the batteries are good, just weak. So, I think it's safe to say that it's not a battery problem.

But if I'm already at 47+v - aren't I already high enough for the charger to sense and begin charging? I just went out and took a spin and it runs like a champ.

I think I see what you are getting at. You mean just touching the probes to the external receptacle terminals - right? I can give this a little more time after the guests leave today.
