Three 12 volt batteries of any sort will produce 36v. But carts run on amps. 3 12s will be very short on amps resulting in short run time and overtaxing even deep cycle or marine type batteries...they will eventually die prematurely from this type of use.... check with a local golf cart shop or golf course maintenance shop or battery store for some gd used Golf Cart batteries. Then research how to use and care for them properly...You will get much better service for your money

8 volt batteries are great ....... so long as they are Golf Cart batteries
Golf cart batteries are different than any other type in that they have much more lead in them. Just check the weight and you will see what I mean.... So 6v , 8v , or 12 volt Golf cart batteries are all good
