Question RXV Axle\Diff Noise (video included)

Hello Gents, I am hoping you can point me in the right direction. I have a strange noise coming from the rear of my 2008 RXV. I have included a couple of videos, so you can hear. A couple of more details:
  • It mostly happens during slow speeds and deceleration.
  • It does not appear to be localized to one side or the other.
  • The axles don't get hot, even at max speeds.
  • I recently dropped the diff pan and changed the fluids (using the recommended fluid, with the LSD additive); no change at all (and nothing in there that looked concerning).

Here are those videos (YouTube):
Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you for your time. :)

Mine was making a similar noise upon acceleration and deceleration only. No noise while doing a consistent speed. Turned out to be my castle nuts rubbing on the washers. I put a little touch of bearing grease on the washer, put it back together and it went away. Not sure how to really prevent it in the future. Mine didn't start until I did the lift kit, larger wheels/tires and the wheels spacers. Might be the more stress on the axles.

Sounds like it could also be the hub beauty pieces, I dont know the name but It fits between the wheel and the hub. It's the chrome piece that has the SS symbol on your wheels. They are usually loose fitting and have seen them make a similar noise. try grabbing it and see if it turns easily. Hope this helps.

UPDATE: Pulled the axle and disassembled it. There was some metal in the pan (very fine, almost like dust) and the larger bearing on the input gear/shaft was not smooth. I replaced both of the input bearings and put everything back together. Now that terrible sound is gone, but I could swear I have a little more gear whine... who knows, maybe it is just more prominent without the other sound (and now I am really paying attention).

I hope I can get back to just enjoying my cart!

Thanks for everyone's input. :)

Glad it worked out well, and the more prominent whine is likely that it's not being drowned out by other noise.

One last sanity check if you don't mind. After a bit of driving I got under the cart to check things out. The only thing I noticed is that the diff was warmer up by the input gear... not hot, just a little bit warmer than the rest of the case.

Now I am wondering if:
  1. One of the new bearings isn't playing nicely.
  2. The motor transmits a little bit of heat through the input gear (and I am overthinking this).

Anyone notice this before (or mind crawling under their RXV to feel for some warmth up by the input gear)?

As always, thanks for your time. :)

Does anyone have the bearing numbers used in a 2008 RXV Differential, there are 6 of them. Input shaft, Intermediate and Carrier Bearings.

I've got them for a TXT, don't know if they are the same axle.

Its the hubs. they need to be tightened all the way down. there is no preload like older cars have. tighten them as tight as you can get them.
