2000 TXT alignment? 5" apart?

I installed a 4" block lift on my 2000 electric TXT but the steering wheel is still at about 9:00 even though I am going straight. The steering wheel has about 2" of play in either direction in it as well when the cart is stopped.

I tried to do the EZGO alignment as per an image thats inside where you measure the distance between the middle of the front and rear tires, but there is a 5" margin....so I can't adjust that within 1/4".

My rear tires, center to center, are 39.8" apart, and my front tires are 35.25" apart from center to center. How do you align that or how do I adjust my steering wheel back to center?

On each end of the Tie Rods near each tire, there is a spot to stick a wrench to hold the tie rod. There is also a nut at the end near the tie rod. Loosen each side enough to have free movement of the shaft between them. I believe its still righty tighty but it will throw you off on each side..You'll notice the is a flat spot on the shaft connecting the tie rods together...Just grab a big wrench and turn it one way or another to toe in or out. When done just tighten up tie rods. Also spray some PB Blaster on everything before attempting it will make it easier to take apart. Hope this helps. As far as the steering wheel go's.. Get your cart as straight as possible by rolling it about 10' forward and 10' backwards, when you think its straight follow the steering column down to a knuckle. There should be a 10mm nut, loosen that nut pretty far and move the steering column up. You'll notice the knuckle has a shaft thats grooved, just turn your steering wheel to where you want it after and reassemble. There is a way easier way but it has a WARNING...You may mess up your steering column shaft if you dont't do this correctly. Pull your steering wheel cover off, it has four little plastic tabs you can see then from the back of your steering wheel. Once there grab a 19mm socket and loosen the steering column bolt. Air tool is best. Once off put it back on til the top of the steering column meets the end of nut flush. Grab a big hammer, place knees with pressure under steering wheel and hit the nut. One hard blow will loosen the steering wheel. Then all you need to do is put steering wheel back on straight, way easier. Pick your poison, a lot of people will tell you don't do it this way but I've done it over 100 times easily. Then just drive your cart around slow til you get it straight and tighten everything back down.

On each adjustable tie rod arm, there is one seized bolt that I cannot unscrew. I have been adjusting the wheels toe in/out by only one side of the tie rod arm on each side.

Is that bad?

yep wont work unless u do both.
Also I believe they could be backwards as far as loosening the tie rods. Sorry just thought of it. Not normal righty tighty but righty loosen...

Depends on how they were assembled. Normally one end is left hand thread and the other is right hand thread. Which is which depends on how they were installed.

So - how do I re-center my tie rod arms if I made one side longer than the other?

I dont have a 10mm nut behind my steering wheel. If I follow the steering shaft down to the footwell I have a '3 bolt pattern' steering shaft and on the opposite site is an unpainted steel steering rack with a grease nipple in the middle.

Measure from the end of the nut on the tie rod ends to the end of the threads each side should be equal. You could also just count the threads.

There are several different alignments and you are mixing at least two of them together.

1. Toe-in. Front tires only. (Attachment-1)
2. Front Axle alignment. Front axle square with frame. (Attachment-2)
3. Rear Axle alignment. Rear axle square with frame.
4. Tracking. Front and rear of frame to be parallel. Left and right sides of frame to be parallel.
Front and rear track widths to be centered on center of frame.
5. Camber. Tires to be perpendicular to ground.
6. Castor. Kingpin angle.

Also attached is the service manual for TXT carts with frame mounted steering.
