Led light bar question
Hello. What might be the issue if only a group of three (3) led lights on my light bar of 40 work. They were working fine until someone else drove the cart and left plastic kill switch on which somehow melted. When attached as normal themail 3 may or may not come on either but when I took it off and direct wired to external source the 3 work.

Re: Led light bar question
If he is using a relay will it matter if the switch is 40amp? it would take only a couple amps if that to trigger the relay.
I am all for the 40a switch then you dont need the relay. Much simpler for most people to hook up. I think the bar may be messed up from the melting switch, try a direct hook up to power source and see what you get. Some of these led light bars draw a LOT of power mine is around 35 amps. Just try to hold the wires together with your fingers and see how hot it gets, you need heavy duty wiring and a good switch or relay! |

Re: Led light bar question
Thanks for the help. The light had worked fine with the current switch and I did direct attach to external power source, and the most that lite up were three. These three are in the center.

Re: Led light bar question
+1 for using relays.. The LED bars as stated above consume a lot of power and you will eventually burn your 40Amp switch..

Re: Led light bar question
Thanks for the help.
We have a 48v cart and I would like to have the led light bar switched. So, using a fuse block, I would go from reducer, to fuse block, through relay and switch, to light bar? And if we had a kill switch, it would be between battery and converter before reducer? |

converter converts 48v to 12v reducer reduces 48v to 12v kill switch would be between 48v pack and reducer/converter |
