Solenoid
So my solenoid is going bad.. I have to tap on it to get it going again every few minutes.. is there a special solenoid I have to use or can I get a cheaply from the auto parts store? Can't pay a whole lot right now.. There is 36v across the activation posts so it will need to be rated for that..
Thanks |

Re: Solenoid
The solenoids for starting cars are momentary duty and solenoids for powering electric carts are constant duty - so the answer is no.
You need a golf cart specific 36v constant duty solenoid rated high enough for your speed controller. Typically 60-80 amp for stock controls, and 200 or 400 amps for aftermarket controls. |

Re: Solenoid
Cool, I will check them out first!!
I have another cart that someone was taking to the scrap yard. I noticed the solenoid on it looks a bit different and has a diode across the activation posts.. what is the diode for? It's a 91 cushman/industrial |

Re: Solenoid
The diode arrests flyback voltage when the solenoid is disengaged
