TXT DCS won't go forward/reverse
I was driving my 1999 EZGO TXT DCS and backed down a short decline to offload a pallet that was strapped to the golf club belts. As I started to move forward, up the hill, the cart just stopped. Now I have no gear forward or reverse. The reverse tone still sounds, but there's no gear. The batteries were just charged prior to the very short ride. Any ideas??

Battery pack voltage?
Does the solenoid click when you try to f or R? |

Re: TXT DCS won't go forward/reverse
Hey Scottyb,
I checked the batteries (36v) at the time and they registered 37.1. Once I got it over the hump of the incline and on flat ground. I had my wife push the gas as I and a friend pushed it. It would move forward very little, so it wasn't completely out of gear. There was a small click when it was operated in gear. I'm guessing it was the solenoid. After pushing the cart into the garage and charging again for a few hours, the batteries registered over 38. Also, after charging it, I tried it (in my garage) and it seemed to drive fine. Obviously, I could only go a couple of feet forward and backward at the time last night. I'll try again this afternoon. |

Re: TXT DCS won't go forward/reverse
Stop trying to go - your charge is so low the controller will fry!
Full charge voltage is 38 24 hours after the charge ends. Charge end voltage is 45v ! You keep messing with cart on low voltage and the controller will crap the bed Do some research - start here > http://www.cartsunlimited.net/charging-tutorial.html |

Re: TXT DCS won't go forward/reverse
Thanks for the help, guys. I just checked voltage now that it's been 24 hours since full charge. It was 37.5. It was 38+ last night right after unhooking. Based on the above, I guess it's a battery issue, which doesn't necessarily surprise me. I appreciate the input.

Check each battery voltage. Maybe it's just one. How old are they?

Re: TXT DCS won't go forward/reverse
If you dare ** put the meter on the pack and try to go. This will give you a load test reading of the pack. This is very important as many packs look okay until they are loaded. Post your results here.
** the OEM DCS Curtis control has a fatal flaw which can cause damage to the control if operated under low voltage. |
