Default Valid DCS motor test?

I have seen a Youtube video where a cart owner tests a 36 volt motor, on the cart, by connecting S1 to A2. Then he puts + voltage on S2 and - voltage on A1 causing the motor to run.
Would this be a valid test on my Ezgo DCS? I would run a jumper from F1 to A2 and then put - voltage on A1 and + voltage on F2 to see if motor runs. BTW, it is an Advanced Motor Drive model DE2-4007 36 volt motor.
I have ohmed the motor out and I have continuity between A1 and A2 & F1 and F2. The controller appears tobe bad and I have no movement at all. The solenoid tests good disconnected fom the cart.
Thanks in advance for any replys.k

No continuity between A & F terminals. BTW, I went ahead with the test because of a very old post of an Ezgo repair manual that detailed a similar test. The only caveat was not to isemorw than 18 volts. So I tried it with 12 and there was minimal movement so I upped it to 18 and the wheels turned. So I'm assuming the motor is good.
