Rear Lift for 1999 EZGO Shuttle, Electric
Thanks for the add as I am new to the forum. This weekend I began putting a 6in drop lift on my 1999 EZGO Shuttle, Electric. I purchased the standard drop lift for 1994.5-2001.5. I put in the front lift with no issues. When dropping the drive train, the brackets do not seem to fit. Not only do the one's I purchased not fit, I can't seem to find any that do fit.
I'm anxious for anyone's experience as to what they did to make it work. I have 14in rims with 23" tires ready to install. Picks for reference. Any info or picks would be greatly appreciated! cart.jpg cart2.jpg cart3.jpg |

Can you put the axle under the springs and bolt it back on?
Maybe you can put a hockey puck or 2 between the springs and axle to lift it more if you need to. You will have to get longer u bolts. Someone must make a lift kit for that model of cart? Maybe somebody who knows will chime in. |

That axle may be a little tricky with the brake hardware and the shock mount position in the way?

I am thinking about removing the shock mount and replacing the shock with the standard that most ezgos have. Then using the bracket that originally came with the lift.
Thoughts? |

From what I read nothing is available for that rear axle other than using long shackles to get some lift or a custom fabricated lift. It looks like the brake is right where you need to put a spacer, so you'll need to attach to the axle further in and make a angle spacer to hit the spring perch just right.

I know costs may prohibit it, but what about a rear axle swap to a normal axle?

I ended up having it custom welded with the hardware that came with it. The rear axle swap would have cost way too much money.

Re: Rear Lift for 1999 EZGO Shuttle, Electric
just saw the pictures.. did you do it your self? or have some one do it? by the looks of your shop, you did it yourself! awesome!
quick questions.. is your E-brake clear to function like before? did you have to re route your hydraulic metal brake lines? how are you going to re mount you shock? are you buying a standard shock like you mentioned before, and utilizing the square plate that came with the kit? if possible, try to post some pictures of the drive train back on with everything installed.. I'm in the same boat you were in back in May, but I have no welder, and I'm poor. LOL thanks again! |

Re: Rear Lift for 1999 EZGO Shuttle, Electric
Great Questions! So my neighbor did the welding for me. The E-brake is working just like before. I had to cut a hole in the lift bracket in order to attach the e-brake cables, allowing them the flex needed to function. Further, the hydraulic brake line was located on the right side of the batteries (When looking at the rear). I had to disconnect it from it's location and then welded a bracket to the bottom frame of the golf cart, in order to secure it. I also ended up switching out the shocks for the standard ones, and used the plate that came with the lift. I will post a couple more pics a bit later.
