Default Won't go up hills

Having trouble with my 91 ezgo going up any kind of incline. Goes good on flat ground. I do have a lift and larger tires on it. Just seems like no bottom end or torque. Any suggestions?

The guys that can help you are going to want to know a few things.

Which drive system?
Volts?
Stock except for lift and tires.
Actual height of tires?

Post those answers and the gurus will chime in. In the meantime, I can tell you that all carts will slow down uphill, especially with larger than stock tires. Is this cart new to you, and is slower than before? Probably should post your pack voltage 12 hrs after full charge as well. Guys with lifts and larger tires are normally told to upgrade the controller and maybe volts (if at 36), along with the motor.

It's a 36 volt all stock. I did put a new throttle switch, and relay. Tires are 20.5 tall. It just won't climb the slightest of inclines. Batteries are somewhat new and all check out just over 6 volts fully charged.i thank you for the time, kinda clueless right now.

Wish I could help more but, like I was alluding, I'm not the guy to give you real answers.

Connections are all good? No cables getting hot?

I know you said the batteries are "newish" and over 6v but they'll want a more exact number. Like 6.xx if you look at that chart I attached, you'll see that 6.37 is fully charged and at 6.05 it's only 50%. These readings are supposed to be taken after the batteries have been fully charged and sat for 12 hours.

My batteries are about at the end of their life and when the pack voltage gets down it is very noticeable on hills. For what it's worth, I have a 2001 36v series cart, no lift. The cart obviously draws more power trying to move itself and passengers up hill, and it would seem odd if something else in the system was bad but not an issue on flat ground.

Again, I'm not very knowledgeable but just trying to help you get the right info out there so you can get good answers quickly.

Good luck.

My STOCK height 1987 36volt cart won't go up hills. Seems like it takes everything it's got with only me on it to climb a small hill. What is your top speed on flat surface? Mine is roughly 11 mph. Been thinking I need to get some motor/controller upgrades to get some speed and torque. Hate slow carts! Lol. Sorry I can't be of help

series carts are the weakest at speed, uphill...my stock 2000 txt series is at about 6mph on my very steep hill-about 40mph downhill if i dont break-and i do!...i upgraded my f/r switch and solinoid to scottys hd units,i also upgraded all my cables to 2gauge-stock controller and motor...if i need to go faster uphill-i will upgrade to 48v and upgrade to a 500 amp alltrax controller...

you need to give a 12hour resting pack voltage and the reading at full throttle uphill...
you also can take individual battery readings under load to see if one battery is breaking down-we have seen this in new batteries sometimes...more than a .3 variance may indicate a problem with that battery....

go to http://www.cartsunlimited.net and you'll find a bunch of interesting reading along with all of the upgrades you need to get your cart some additional oomph. Still not sure if the op had a decrease in performance or it's been that way all along.

During my rebuild I upgraded to the 48500 alltrax, super duty contactor and 2g cables. Even with my pack on it's last legs, I had a noticeable increase in torque and speed. If I understand correctly, the bigger controller allows my motor to access more amps than the stock unit. You'll read on here time and again that these carts were originally designed to slowly move around a couple of guys on the course. When we ask them to do more than that, we've got to help them out with some upgrades to the drive system.

My 9 year old batteries would crawl uphill, but still would drive all day, until the series upgrade bit me. Even with the upgrades in my sig, ALL carts slow down on hills. how old are your batteries, and if you can, measure the voltage while climbing your worst hill.

Thanks everyone for the input. Going to go with a package deal from carts unlimited. Have to put this on hold for a week because of work out of town. When I do get back to it might have some more questions. Thanks again for the input, very helpful.
