Runs Slow, dies quickly.
So I bought a 1996 ezgo txt recently and the first thing I did, was change all the battery cables to 2 gauge. Other then playing around in the guys driveway, I never really tested it. I've been fighting with it for 2 weeks now, I charge it til the charger says full, run it a bit. It never goes over 8mph which is way off, and after a few minutes it slows down til it finally dies. It doesn't seem to be a battery issues, because when I plug the charger in, it fills quickly. I did notice one battery was reading 4v and noticed it was almost empty on water. I filled it and all read correctly. Same issues though. I noticed today a battery cable loose connected to nothing, and I am trying to figure out if I just forgot to pull it when I replaced it. The one end is still connected to B- on the control box. Along with my new cables. I don't see a reason for double grounds, am I missing something, or does someone have an idea about the issue? Thanks.

The 4 volt battery is definitely a problem. Should be 6.4 volt. I would say it's a battery problem. When batteries go bad they don't charge as long because their capacity has diminished.

Re: Runs Slow, dies quickly.
The battery was reading wrong because the water was low. After I filled it, and charged again, they all read right around 6.55. The overall system reads right around 39. The reading seem correct. Same issue though. Cart barely moves, then dies down after very limited use. Even when the cart seems dead, the batteries read the same voltage, which makes me wonder, if it actually is dead or its another issue.

Check the four post on the forward and reverse switch for any signs of heat. Drive it a little bit and check for heat. Maybe loose lugs or you may need to tighten the center nut which pulls the cam in a little tighter.

Would like you to monitor voltages while driving & report results. The whole pack can be monitored by putting your voltmeter probes in the charge port. I still bet it's a battery problem, a battery that was at 4v for a while don't really magically recover by putting water in them.

Re: Runs Slow, dies quickly.
Alright. So the one battery kept reading low, so I replaced it. I assumed that would fix it, I was wrong. As for the readings. The voltage at the charger reads 33.4. Little low. The main connections read 37.9. Each battery, including the new one reads about 6.34 right now. That's after I ran it a bit. Fully charged they were reading closer to 7. While running, most batteries were right at 6 volts, one was 5.79. Give or take a little, hard to get while moving. Same thing though, cart won't go more then 8mph and doesnt run long. I have a digital battery reader on it that said 65% when I started, I can't get it to go beyond that. It reads 0 shortly after running it. I can't trust those though. As for a full charge, I have a new charger but it seems to run forever and doesn't shut off. So I'm not sure how much charge it's getting. I know I left it on for hours and it stayed at 65%. I am not sure what the deal is, but I am completely frustrated with this **** thing. Definitely no heat coming from the Fwd Rev switch. Any help would be great.

Re: Runs Slow, dies quickly.
I still think you have another battery or two that is weak. Check the total pack voltage while driving. You can do that by placing your dvm in the charge port. A full battery pack should read around 38.2 while moving it shouldn't drop more than 3-4 volts initially and then level out about one volt or so lower than it was at rest. If it drops more than that you need to repeat that test on each individual battery till you find the bad one(s). Also let it charge till the charger cuts off. A few hours is not enough. It could take up to 16 hours to fully charge a low battery pack.
