Default how to tell what EZGO model it is.

I am looking at getting my first cart this
I want to lift it and make it go FAST!!

I will be using around the house and when we go camping.

The person that I am buying it from doesn't know much about it. It was her father in laws.

How do I know what model it is. I am working on a vert tight budget. I am father or 4 boys, and hoping this is something that we all can work on and then enjoy.

Looks like a TXT to me..

Is the F&R selector a switch on the dash, or a lever just below the seat?? That will determine what type of drive system you have...

I have not seen the cart yet.

If it is on the dash what does that mean.

And which is better?

I am very new to all of this.

You need to know the year of the cart as well as which drive system it has. There might be a metal plate in the passenger storage box. Give us those numbers and tell us where the Forward/Reverse switch is. Also, open the battery bay and look for a toggle switch on a black plastic cover under the passenger side of the seat.

Next are the batteries: What brand and how old?

This is all the info that I have for it.
2005 E-Z Go Golf Cart with less than 20 hours on it. Has tail lights, head lights, fold down rear seats, craiger ss chrome rims, brand new tires, brand new charger to go with it.

Please let me know what to look for when I go to see it. I understand some EZGOs are like 20 buck to make go faster while others are 1000. How do I tell the difference. Also how do I tell if it is 48 or 36 volt?

All TXT's are 36 volt unless it's been modified.. The PDS carts can have their top speed increased with an inexpensive jumper on the controller.. However, the max speed with stock tires will be less than 19 MPH.. To go any faster will require a motor or controller change.. ($$$) The series carts can gain speed by converting to 48V or a motor change.. The only way to bust 20MPH is gonna require dropping some real money in it ($800/$1000)...

Would I be better off with a 1999 48 volt Club car?

I was just thinking that a 2005 would be better then a 1999
