Battery charger question
The golf cart shed next to mine caught on fire. My battery charger now is covered in soot and what looks like strands of cotton (I guessing from what they extinguished the fire with) on it.
Is there a safe way to clean it or is it too dangerous to use? |

Re: Battery charger question
Make sure and get all of the fire extinguisher dust. We had a VFD at work that caught fire, and the extinguisher dust wasn't completely cleaned, and caused problems down the road, even after a factory rep gave it a clean bill of health.
I always use distilled water, when cleaning electronics, as the chlorine can corrode circuit boards. You can probably just do this as a rinse to tap water. My Mom dropped her cell phone in a salt water river, and had to wait six hours for the tide to go down. I told her to remove the battery and soak it in distilled water. Worked just fine. We didn't do rice, as she has a bottle full of dessicants. |
