Run/Tow Switch question
I have a 2004 TXT PDS 36 volt. I'm trying to check why it's not running but the run/tow switch has to be unplugged to get the cover out of the way. My question is, does the run/tow switch have to be plugged in for the controller to work? I noticed that one of the terminals on the 4 pin switch is burned and black. Could that be my problem as to why it won't run? Can the run/tow switch be left unplugged while I work on it?
Thanks for the help. |

Re: Run/Tow Switch question
The burnt wire could be the trouble
Take it to the bench for continuity testing. If you want to remove the switch from the cover. There is a retaining nut under the rubber toggle boot. |

Re: Run/Tow Switch question
YES you have to have it connected....as scotty mentioned a fix.....but on top of that, you mentioned you could see a burnt connection ...... for starters, I would check the continuity of the switch to see if its even functional as that may be your whole problem.

Re: Run/Tow Switch question
I checked the switch for continuity and it checks out. Do you think I could jumper the pins on the controller to bypass the switch or would that mess up the controller?

Re: Run/Tow Switch question
Do not by pass the run tow switch. Remove it as instructed and plug it back in. The switch must be in the tow position before any electrical work is done. Unplugging the switch is the same as putting it in tow. I hope this helps
