Altrax control with no reverse

Got a Real good price on an easy go DCS with an all tracks controller. When I hook everything up I have forward but I have no reverse. I get a greenlight no reverse and then five red flashes. It runs real well in forward just no reverse. I know nothing about these controllers any advice would be appreciated.

Ok, reading back after I did the talk type thing, it's an altrax controller. Connections are all good.

Hedger,

Go ahead and post what type of cart You have and the altrax controller model number.

Someone will be along soon to help.

Your cart is either Series, DCS or PDS. There is a guide in the stickies to tell which is which.

You stated it was a DCS cart with an Alltrax controller, so it is most likely an Alltrax DCX controller.

A sepex controller like you have is effectively three controllers in one box. A high power one for the armature amps and two low power ones for the field amps. The high powered one runs in both F and R while one of the low power ones runs in F and the other in R.

Sounds like the low power output for Reverse is kaput, so the whole controller is bad.

Is it possible to go back to a dcs controller? Is forward going to go bad now?

1. Yes you can go back to a stock DCS controller (Curtis 1206SX), but a stock DCS controller has reliability issues, so it would be a temporary fix. Get an Alltrax XCT.

Does the cart move forward when reverse is selected, or does it not move at all?

Cart doesn't move at all when reverse is chosen. In forward it runs like a scalded dog.

The controller defaults to forward and has to be told to go into reverse mode, so the was a possibility that it wasn't being told to go into reverse, but if the cart doesn't move at all when reverse is selected, the controller is bad.
