New forward reverse switch tight

Replaced the FNR switch in a 96 txt. Take a bit of work to move lever into forward or reverse. Thinking this could just be that it's new and it will "break in" but thought it would be worth asking if there's a better fix.

When I replaced mine years ago, it was very tight as well. You could sell that thing and get one of these.

It is usually fixed with some wd40 spray on the points where the rod arm moves. spray some and move it from F to R back and fourth it usually loosens up

I didn't have WD40 but had some spray white lithium grease. Worked like a charm! Thanks yamahaguy.
