RXV motor sound when stopped - intermittent go/no-go
I have a 2010 RXV with 9 month old Trojan 12v batteries. I have a new solenoid and a brand new motor brake installed.
Normally, the cart is great, goes 21 mph and can easily go 36 holes. Recently in the Vegas summer heat, it will occasionally not move after being stopped for a short time - usually after playing at least 9 holes (at least 90 minutes of being on). Turning the key on and off doesn't seem to do anything - in fact when this condition happens turning the key off and then on doesn't even initiate any sounds and the battery meter doesn't move at all. Leaving it turned off for 5-10 minutes always seems to correct the issue (although interrupts the golf game), and it will then run again. My first guess is it is overheated (I think I read there is a thermal shutoff?)... One clue that troubles me, however, is that when it is turned on in "F", when the cart is stationary (no pedals depressed) the electric motor seems to make a slow pulsing sound. It is hard to describe, but it almost sounds like a heartbeat - it is a regular, pulsing sound. Is this sound normal? Is the motor doing something when it shouldn't be and perhaps causing/contributing to an overheat condition? Thanks for any help. |

The resistor is not gonna be your issue, because it only activates when the batteries are too full to absorb the energy generated by braking/slowing down. And whatever you do, drink your bottle of water, don't dump it all over the controller & electronics. Ever thought of cooling your laptop down with a bottle of water? Kind of the same applies here.
