Default Alltrax 400amp.AXE vs. NPX ???

After spending much of the day reading different threads, I'm very humbled as to my knowledge of carts compared to many of you guys. Great imformation. I'm in need of a new controller for my 96 EZGO fleet car. The idea of increasing torque and speed by moving up to 48v. is intreging. Does anyone know if I can get by with a Alltrax 400 amp. NPX controller, or do I need to invest in the AXE?
Thanks,
John

I went for the AXE model because it is programmable. I like to be able to dial it down before partying or letting the kids drive it.

I don't think I would need to reprogram mine. In order to do that, do you have to buy software etc. for the computer. First of all, I don't own a lap top. Any honestly, I'm doing good to get out e-mails. Now real adapt to computers if you know what I mean.
Thanks

Alltrax software is FREE and you download it from Alltrax's website. The software is simple to use. You can run it without the controller on your pc....obviously you won't be able to program the controller but you can run it to see how simple it is. You also need a cable to hook to the controller when it's time to program it. You can pick up a cable from alltrax or radio shack. If you can make a post you can run the software.
