Default Input Shaft Replacement

I have a 2009 EZ-GO TXT that needs an input shaft. I've looked online and seen removal procedures that include "removing the circlip". There is no circlip on mine and the shaft is pretty tight.

Any advice on how to remove this?

Also, I'm assuming if it is stripped, there will be some metal floating around in the rear end. How best to clean this out? Should I pull the bottom cover?

Well, all 2009 Ezgo models used a clip to hold the input shaft in, so we have to go back to there.

remove seal, remove snapring, grasp input shaft with pliers and wiggle sprly. It will pop out but you must tilt it to clear the gear it meshes with. Drop your lower diff cover and clean it all up. Yes,every bearing and surface is contaminated with metal if the gear failed. Nothing short of complete disassembly and cleaning will get it all out. I just did an input shaft and axle on a MPT1000.

Thank guys, that "remove the seal" part is what I missed. I tried to upload a picture on this post.

I'm finally getting around to this. Got the seal out and the snap ring out. Working on pulling the shaft out.

I also pulled the diff cover to remove any shavings in there. I thought there would be oil, but only powder and the shavings I was looking for. Do these things use a dry lubricant (graphite) of could this be why the input shaft failed?

if it was dry....its part of why it failed.....there should have been 10 oz. of oil in the pan.

Thanks guys. There was no gasket on the pan, should there be?

Also, 10 oz. of what weight oil?
