Default My '96 TXT Exploder

I had just put the new batteries in and got the wheels turning forward at a pretty good click when CABLOOEY! I had to duck all the shrapnel ..... then get out of the cart and go change my drawers ........ Scared the bejeebee's outta me. Anyway, These are all of the pieces I was able to find ....... without a rake.

Is this a regular occurrence type of a thing with sparkies? ........... and does anybody have any idea what I could have done, or not done to cause something like this to happen? I haven't seen anything like this on the entire site and was wondering if this was a fluke.

BTW this was a bone stock 36v cart

Were the rear wheels off of the ground???? It looks like the motor was over-reved, and the commutator flew apart.. If a series motor is run without a load, they will rev until they self-destruct...

The reason for putting a sparky on stands for troubleshooting is for YOUR SAFETY.. Trying to t-shoot a sparky with the wheels on the ground is setting you up for a "runaway" cart or serious personal injury when the cart runs YOU over...

When testing a series system with the wheels off of the ground, only blip the throttle enough to verify operation... Don't floor the accelerator and/or hold it for any amount of time, EVER....

I have seen it.....motor was turning about 14K RPM when it happened. You can't run a series motor unchecked or it will explode.

I totally understand all of that CC, I just never imagined that these things would rev till they popped, He11, I didn't run it much more than 10 seconds if that, Heck, the pedal wasn't all the way down anyway ....... LOL. Doesn't make much difference to that motor NOW ...... does it.

So, who's got a motor?
