2006 EZGO TXT 36 volt no go
Hi Folks, I have a 36volt 2006 EZ GO txt that started jerking, not getting up to speed, and intermittently not going at all. I have had the pedal box switch cause similar issues so checked it first, found it properly adjusted (switch opens before plunger enters coil, etc) and the switch metered good. I put the F/R selector in the center position and removed the key. I started removing the battery cables to clean/check all connections and the black - wire going to the controller slipped and touched the battery post and sparks flew. I have never had this happen in the past so disconnected lights and all other accessories and the same thing happened. I checked the wiring on the F/R selector switches and all seems fine.
The solenoid does not pick when I have everything connected. My plan is to meter the diode on the solenoid and check wiring on the controller. My question is what could be drawing current with the F/R in the center, accessories, disconnected, and key off? I cannot tell from my wiring diagram if the negative wire going to the controller passes directly through and goes to the - side of the solenoid or if there is something (transistor, etc) on the controller involved. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Rick in Surfside |

Assuming that this is a PDS cart (F&R selector, and not a handle?) The controller always has power running through it. The 36V goes into the controller, and then comes out of the controller and goes to the key switch. You turn the key switch on, and that allows the F&R selector to work. The jerking could have been a bad battery, battery that is failing has enough power so the controller tries to use it, then the power cuts out, controller sees the loss of power and it goes into under-voltage mode, then that power returns controller sees the power and tries to go... and on and on and on. Have you tested the batteries under load? Also, have you checked the controller for error codes? |

Re: 2006 EZGO TXT 36 volt no go
Thank you for the information. This is a non-pds (TXT). The batteries are 14 months old (I know that means nothing though) and I have not load tested them yet. I have had my meter on the pack (38.8 volts) and watched it while testing to see why the solenoid doesn't pick and the voltage remains steady. I have made sure my battery wires are clean and making good contact. I am hung up on not getting the solenoid to pick. I will get the batteries load tested and go from there. Thanks again.

I'm not very sure how the Series controller works. I'm sure somebody will have some reasoning on what could be pulling power. |
