Default PDS Upgrade path

Hey fellas. I've been trying to soak up as much info as possible on this forum and I know this has been asked but please help a new guy out. I am almost done rebuilding this 2009 PDS and have an upgrade question. I plan on leaving it 36V for a while because all it's going to be used for is riding around the yard and on the street hauling kids. No hills around here. Also, I would like to do the upgrades in steps to make it easier on the wallet. My cart is stock with 2 gauge cables and an HD solenoid. Brand new set of T-105's ..... right now it'll do 17 MPH with 23" tires.

1) What single component will give me the most bang for the buck in my situation? Motor or Controller? I'm not looking to go 25 MPH....... 20 would be good for now.

Here's a before and after pic. Sorry I didn't get a bunch of pics of the rebuild, I always forget while I'm working on things.

Dixie, from what I have gathered, you shouldn't upgrade the motor, without upgrading the controller.

If I were you I'd go ahead and go Alltrax. You are already setup to run either 400, or 500a. And both of those should handle a 48v system if you would like to go that path down the road.

Plus a new controller will upgrade your speed & torque about 20% or better.

Talk to Scottyb, I'm sure he can help!

I would imagine motor would be cheaper if you're willing to forgo your regen. Plumquick will rewire your motor for more speed for $225. I'm not sure if there are other options to add and what that'd do to the price.

Edit: Sorry, ARKSoft and I posted at the same time. The controller upgrade ARKSoft mentioned would increase speed as well. Not trying to counter-post anybody.

Dixie chopper, your setup sounds a lot like mine. I have a 05 pds that I've upgraded some. I upgraded to 2 ga. cables, 400 amp. solenoid and the altrax xct500. I'm currently running the stock motor on 36 volts. My plans are to eventually upgrade to 48 volts and possibly aftermarket motor. . Scottyb programmed everything before he shipped it to me so I could run the stock motor . Its working so well that I'm not in any rush to upgrade at the moment. I also run 23 in. tires and have plenty of speed and torque. Sounds like you already have the cables and solenoid so I would probably lean toward the controller.

The Alltrax XCT400PDS control will give a 35% increase in torque(power) and top speed of 22-23 mph. If that's not the most bang for your buck I'll eat my hat

Sounds like a controller is the best option with future upgrades in mind. ScottyB I sent you a PM.

You won't have to wait long. Carts Unlimited keeps these controls in stock and ships by 3 day mail M-F.

One more question for you guys. I feel dumb for asking this but is the Alltrax waterproof?
