Lights, Stereo, and Maybe a 12V battery? - Advice for a newbie?
Hello again to all that helped me get my cart running.. I have a new to me 2000 EZGO TXT. It was in pretty decent shape when I got it but needs a few accessories and my son and I are planning to work on it together. I have a few things on my list already and am not a-posed to some suggestions for other accessories.
Please let me know you recommendations / opinions on the following .. and anythign else is all good conversation. 1. HeadLights and Taillights - I think I have already decided on LED headlights and brake lights. The Hollogen were ok but a little dim and one of them was burned out so instead of money to fix the one I am probably replacing all with these. https://www.recpro.com/products/ezgo...able-light-kit 2. Light Bar - I think I want to add a light bar to the cart also.. probably also LED since I prefer the white light instead of the yellowish lighting, plus the lower power consumption of LED is appealing. I am undecided on the mounting options, either on the top or mounted to the front of the cart. Any suggestions would be great. 3. Bumpers/Sotrage or Dash Replacments? - I am possibly interested in a cool bumper but dont want to add much weight so that is low on the list. However I would really like to find a way to replace or upgrade the dashboard, its kind plain and cheap looking in my opinion. 4. 12V Battery for accessories - This is something I have read up on a little and most people say if you do it then run a trickle charge and wire direct to your accessories. My questions here are how many people add the extra battery and is it worth it? Do the accessories really use up the life of the pack? Also, where are they mounting the new battery? Thanks again for all your help |

I'm not familiar with the led kits, and I don't have a light bar, so no help to you there. I installed led replace bulbs but my front lights are still a little dimmer than I would like.
As far as the dash goes, you just need to google ezgo dash replacement, or look at site sponsor websites, and you'll find some decent options. It all depends on what kind of function and look you're going for. Your 12v accessories do need to be on a power source other than your pack. To get 12v from your pack, you're drawing from two batteries, which makes the pack uneven and reduces the lifespan. I have a reducer from Scottyb and am very happy with it, but it seems to be split pretty evenly on separate 12v battery vs the reducer. Most people put the extra battery under the seat on the driver's side. |

I put a lithium auto craft battery in mine. It's super light and can be mounted in any direction which makes finding a place to put it easy. I have a CC and stuffed it above the front frame rails just in front of the floor. It's in there pretty tight and since it only weighs 3lb I secured it with a zip tie

I have never heard anyone say "I tested it, my DC convertor reduces my range, I want rid of it". All fear & speculation. When I did test the draw on the battery pack of a DC converter at full accessories load, it was 4 amp draw on the pack. With the smallest pack offered by Ezgo being 155 ah, what is 4 gonna do to your range?

I'm running the underbody LEDs and the stereo. I didn't want to mess with the factory light harness that is on the stock reducer. Also, I wasn't sure how much juice the new class D amps would suck up compared to old school amps and I didn't want to over draw the reducer. That's the main reason, more so than the fact it could ultimately reduce my range. But I did have the range in the back of my head. Most posts you read suggest going stand alone 12v and you won't look back, so I was like screw it. Also, since it's a stand alone system from the cart batteries and wiring, if something goes wrong I'll still have headlights and be able to get home. I drove around for about 45 min with the lights on and stereo cranked up and when I plugged the 12v charger in it said I was still at 90% charge. So I probably could have bought a smaller 12v lithium battery but I should be good if I forget to plug it in all the time. However, I am going to add another amp for a sub setup so we shall see how it works out then. I'm guessing it will still last 2-3x as long as my total drive time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Oh ok. I was looking.. Scottyb has a reducer/fuse block combo for 105 and the lithium battery is 149 so I'm still weighing my options. Not sure if I'll run an amp but I'm going with the dash console with the guage pod Bluetooth unit with two 6in speakers. And probably some under body led lighting. There's a hot wire to one battery and a ground wire to another battery so I guess that's for the led head and tail lights. I also plan on adding a 12v USB charging dock.

If you already have led head and tail lights there is a good chance your cart already has a reducer on it.

Quit worrying about reduced range with v reducer.
Range reduction is not any worse than low tire pressure or extra weight. Probably not near as bad as low tire pressure. |

You are probably correct about the tires having a bigger impact on range than accessories. My biggest concern was putting too much draw on the reducer and cooking it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
