Jerky forward and reverse start
Just bought a 97 EZGO TXT 36v. Forward and reverse jerk on take off. It's as if the throttle is extremely sensitive or it's jumping into a higher speed and skipping the lower end of the throttle. I believe it has a series drive but I'll confirm tonight.
End game will include mods to a conversion to 48v and increasing torque for off-road and hunting use. I'm including this info in case a part needs to be replaced I'd like to upgrade once with the finished product in mind if at all possible. |

Re: Jerky forward and reverse start
After looking at Scottyb's site it looks like it's a DCS Sepex drive. Any help or ideas to get me pointed in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Jerky forward and reverse start
controllers in those are very susceptible to low voltage damage....not sure on whether the DCS needs a torque motor-it may be necessary for hunting/off road but you will need 2g cables, alltrax controller,HD solenoid and mo bigga batts-4,8v`s or 6,6v`s...if you are going 6 batts you will need to tell scottyB-that is a different cable set(lengths)....
people who use DCS`s for off road buggy`s need to chime in on this............ |

Re: Jerky forward and reverse start
I'm still a little confused on the different drives. I read the series are typically better for off-road and lean more towards torque than speed. If I'm planning to upgrade to 500+ amp controller, HD solenoid, HD F/R switch, cables, and 48V conversion. Did I get the wrong type of cart or is this not an issue with all the above upgrades?
I forgot to mention it has a Plum Quick motor in it as well. I suppose my issue is I know what needs to be upgraded, but I don't have a full understanding of what these upgrades do and why. I'm working on it though, thanks for the help. |

Re: Jerky forward and reverse start
So I read through ScottyB's site a few times and that cleared up a few things and gave me some other questions as well.
Time to go big on the upgrades and the drive type won't be an issue. Need to book some OT at work and ship the parts to a friends house. |
