Default 2013 vs 2014 TXT 48v differences?

Great forum, long time reader.

Why do most aftermarket parts (lift kits, etc) all seem to stop at 2013? It was my understanding that the only difference between the 13 and 14 were purely cosmetic? Did Ezgo make changes to the drivetrain for 2014?

I have the choice of purchasing a 2013 or 2014 48v TXT for the same price. Wondering which way to go considering upgrade parts availability.

Cheers!

Following. I am in the same boat as you are or maybe worse... I recently purchased my first cart ever, a gently used 2016 E-Z-GO TXT E Freedom, and have noticed the same thing regarding aftermarket upgrades. My guess, and it's purely speculation, is that E-Z-GO forces owners of newer carts to purchase parts, etc. through their authorized dealers until the carts are 3 or 4 years old??? Hopefully someone who knows the real deal will chime in.

I think you may be right Ninja. My hope is that the aftermarket parts websites just havent been updated yet to reflect the newer year models. Next week Im going to a huge EZGO dealer and Im gonna look at a 2013 next to a 2014+ and see if I can spot any differences. Will report back.

you might want to try to order something and try it out-assuming the company has a liberal return policy...

Far as I know the differences are the cowl and rear body. Some of the newer carts come with a different dash section that resemble an RXV dash. All the parts are interchangeable. I put a 14+ cowl on my 2012 and gives it a better look imo.

I'm guessing no more in the cowl headlights for that cowl style?

Available from the factory. Don't know if aftermarket has caught up yet for sure but I think so. http://www.ezgo.com/vehicles/freedom-txt

edit: Yes, aftermarket available also

Interesting to see that EZ-GO has their 48-V carts coming with Lithium batteries. I did a quick search for lithium battery(s) directly from EZ-GO but came up with nothing.

With the wave of shifting (eventually) from flooded batteries to Lithium, and the fact that 48-V is still 48-V whether it comes from flooded or lithium, I would think perhaps EZ-GO would sell a lithium battery and charger that could then be swapped out for the flooded batteries.

Yes you can get the factory and aftermarket cut in lights but these were already working so didn't change them. I also really don't like the look of a cut in but that's just my personal opinion. The design does change for the new body style as in the old style won't work.
