Default 2003 EzGo TXT 6-pass 36v to 48v conversion

Hey all, I hope all is well.

A few weeks ago I purchased an EZGO 6-pass TXT series cart. At the time of purchase I neglected to look at the electronics under the seat, but I did look where the batteries were stored and they looked good and they were actually 2017 batteries so I was okay with them. I did drive it for about a week after I got it home to see if it ran okay and it did, I get about mid 20's mph. But now I and have dismantled it to restore some rusted parts I was able to look under the seat. It doesn't look like there are any original electronic parts from EzGo. And as I am wanting to add a amp and speakers, I have been toying with the idea of upping the voltage as well.

I have been reading on some posts, but I mainly see people inquiring about upgrading original parts. I was wondering if someone might provide some insight on what components I currently have and of them would need to be changed out? I know that the charger might need to be changed out, that I am not too concerned about. Being a newbie any assistance would be grateful.

The FSIP Control is 48v compatible, So is the (I assume HD) F&R switch. Looks like you will need 48v worth of batteries, a 48v 400a solenoid, 470Ω precharge resistor, 3 amp diode, and a 48v DPI or Yewey1200 charger.

Thanks... so really not much extra. The batteries and charger the highest cost factor. Thanks again.

Just another question here (will probably have more actually). What is the amperage of the controller, in looking at the picture I really can't tell, but I do see a number of 496.3 amps @ 50%. Would that mean it is a 500 amp controller?

Again, thanks for all the information and I am reading through your webpage about upgrades scottyb that is why I am asking.

I am an FSIP dealer. The model # shown indicates a 500a controller.

Denzone.....you mentioned in your first post that the batteries are new (2017's)....so if you have the room. you would only need 2 more 6v batteries. and of course the additional cables. IF you decide to go with 6-8v batteries ...... be aware that the posts are not in the same lactation as they are on 6v batteries and the cables for the pack will not reach and some of those would need to be replaced as well.

I would probably just add 2 - 6v batteries. I do plan on adding just a Bluetooth amp with maybe 4 speakers, but I have to do this is in stages. It is addictive, like when I had my motorcycle, kept wanting to add on stuff...

I haven't noticed that kind of behavior from me. But, OTOH....my wife reminds me of it.
