Question Series motor on a DCS cart?

Ok.... So I got a DCS cart this weekend, put a newly rebuilt and upgraded 400 amp controller in it and a new set of batteries. Cart moved but it wasn't running right and shaking bad. So I put another motor on it which i thought was a dcs motor. Turns out it was a series motor but it is running fine and seems to have plenty of power.and... the motor I took off was a ezgo ge series. I've heard you cant put a DCS motor on a series but what about this? There is not apparent over heating on the motor or controller driving around the yard. Thoughts?

you said that you think the replacement is a SERIES motor. what makes you think its a series motor? just because the posts are labeled A1, A2, S1, and S2 does not necessarily mean its a series motor. DCS motors are labeled the same way. Are the posts on the motor the same size or are they different?

FWIW:

When installed, the only way to tell the difference between a Series motor and a DCS motor is the part number on the label. (All four terminals are same sized and are labeled the same.) See Pic #1

When the motor is out of the cart, the visible difference is the stator (field) windings are made up of a few turns of thick wire (or ribbon conductor) in a Series motor (Pic #3) while they are many turns of thin wire in a DCS motor. (Pic # 2)

DCS controllers and Series motors are not compatible, nor are Series controllers and DCS motors. The controller is typically the first thing to go up in smoke when DCS and Series components are mixed.

Since mistakenly mixing DCS and Series motors was relatively easy to do and happened all too often, when the PDS replaced the DCS, the terminals on the PDS motor were labeled A1, A2, F1 and F2. Also the studs used for the F1 and F2 terminals were smaller than the studs used for the A1 and A2 terminals.
