Default Halogen vs LED lighting

Ok....I did a forum search using the post title words, and got to many to read,.....and none with this title. Then, maybe the only 12-V light bar's or kits available are Halogen.

BTW, I run a separate 12-V battery for my lights and winch.

However, which is brighter? I want to install either two separate lights (like a post light) or a light bar on my txt. The current headlights are just OK, but when I'm coming out of the woods in the dark, I would like to have more light.

Thoughts and suggestions? Thanks for your input!

Hey Dave......well I just swapped out my headlights from Halogen to LED and I can see much better.

but for REALLY wanting to see where you are going an LED Light bar is the way to go....I just installed one on the TOP of the cart I built for me nephew (his hunting buggy) and that sucker lights up the world!! Its 21" wide and puts out 10800 lumen, it consists of 40 individual lights (20 in 2 rows).

Dave if that is the ST cowl you won't find those in LEDs. At least last time I looked I couldn't. I 2nd the light bar. The ST lights are some of the best out there but won't hold a candle to a bar..

Yeah....I tried to find LED's for it....as you said, no luck.

Thanks for the link Sir Nuke. That says it will hook up to a 12-V and lighting is really great when you take a deer at dusk....and need light for field dressing. That's what happen to me last year. I never realized how "bad" my headlights were. I'm good with looking like a "UFO" coming outta the woods.

One should also check/compare the light pattern. Only half the lighting job is done by the leds themselves, the rest is done by the reflectors. For off roading/bush bashing, i chose a combo pattern. Gives some light to the sides, great for spotting fallen or hanging branches before they swipe past the windshield and smack you upside the head

I’m a new guy here so take this with a grain of salt. I had a Ridgid Ind. bar ($450) on my Ranger and it was super bright and durable, well worth the money. It got hit with limbs constantly in the woods and never missed a lick. For my recent cart build I took a shot in the dark and ordered one of these 20” cheapo bars off amazon.

LED Light Bar Nilight 20 Inch 126w LED Work Light Spot Flood Combo Led Bar Off Road Lights Driving Lights Led Fog Light Jeep Lights Boat Lighting ,2 Years Warranty https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WE47FVM..._NcQ1zbKMEMQ44

Paying $27 I was a bit skeptical to say the least but what the hell? It’s $27. All I can say is wow This thing is super bright! I don’t know about longevity but right now I’m loving it! I’m sure he one Nuke installed is a better quality bar because you usually get what you pay for but for now I’m satisfied. I’ll try to get a pic of it lit up at night for you.

Curious. What brand do you have? Have you checked your lightbar with a lightmeter at the proper distances, or at least an ammeter to see if it drawing the rated current? How many thousand hours has yours been working? I am not defending Rigid or any other company but you usually get what you pay for.
