Stock PDS controller on 42/48 volts ?
Okay guys and gals, I have a stock PDS cart with completely dead batteries. Don’t want to spend a fortune on fixing this one up because it is going to be a backup for the lake place. Used 6 volts around here are becoming hens teeth because almost everything is 48 volts now. So here is the question, can I use 6 8 volt batteries and just tie the activation circuit in at battery number 5? I realize I will have to buy a solenoid and precharge resistor but I already have the charger and socket. Figured at 5 batteries that would be around 42.5 volts. Guess it all depends on if the controller cares what the main pack voltage is. Anyone done this?
Thanks in advance |

Never tried it on a stock PDS controller, but they were pretty sorry anyway. I wouldn't expect it to live long. I have done this on the series controllers.

Re: Stock PDS controller on 42/48 volts ?
I did try it on 5 8 volts just to see if the electronics were good but on jack stands. Oh well, I will either turn it into a gas cart or find some batteries. Thanks cg

I believe there are some Western carts out there with a PDS drive running on 42V, but I'm not sure if it is a stock PDS controller.
