Default '99 EZ-GO DCS 36 volt motor noise

When starting to move forward, I am hearing an odd noise coming from the motor that sounds like something is spinning and rubbing inside of the motor; however, I don't hear it in reverse. It seems to have very little torque.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Allen

Well unfortunately your gong to hav3 to remove it and open it up. It may be a brush issue or bad bearing. But you need to make sure nothing is wrong in the differential either

Any suggestions as to who I could send it to for to look at a rebuild or possibly an upgrade?

Not specifically no, you just need to find a local golf cart repair shop. Of course you can send it away to be fixed or replaced but I can’t tell you what company to pick as I have never used that service before

Make sure the axle nuts are not spinning while the wheel stay still 1st. Check both sides while somebody tries to go

Good point. The hub drum might be stripped out or partially stripped

Well, I sent the motor off to plum quick for an upgrade and also found out that there is not issue with the motor. It looks like I need to look into the hub issue a little further. Is there anything that I can do to try to diagnose this issue while the motor is getting upgraded?

Yeah, remove the castle nuts on each axle rod and slide the hub drum off. Put your finger in the holes where the teeth are and see if they are ground down. If you want to be more detailed remove the snap rings on each side and slide the axle rods out. The spline on the actual axle rod is much harder metal but it can only handle a few stripped drums before the spline gets too worn out and needs replaced too.

Sometimes it sounds like the motor but it could be an axle bearing ((more driver side then passenger)) I would take the rear drum off and spin the axle and see if you hear it.... it's easier to try that then to take a motor out.... it's a common problem but easy fix
